Present Perfect Continuous

Today,in this video ,we 're going to be talking about 'Preset Perfect tense "and the 'Present Perfect Continuous tense'

Let's talk about 'The Present perfect tense'first.

It's Composed of two elements;

(1) have and has,

And (2) the past participle of the main verb.

A good exmple of the 'present perfect tense 'would be,

"I have watched it,"

Now,going into the'present perfect continuous tense,'

This one is composed of three elements:

(1)have or has(2) been,

(3) Present participle of the main verb ,which is just adding an "ing" to a verb.

Good exmple for this one ,would be,

"I have been watching it."

Now,let's look at some exmple sentences to see when you would usually use each tense.

So the first one "I have edited my video."

This is one an exmple of the'Present Perfect tense 'because it includes ,"have"and the past participle of the verb "adit"which is "edited."

The second exmple,"I have been editing this video."

This is in the "present perfect continuous tense 'because there's a verb "have"the word"been," and the present participle of "edit,"which is "editing"

In the first sentence ,the action has already been completed.

In the present,I'am not editing the video.

The action is completed ,its crossed off my to do list.

But in the second sentence ,the action is still happening in the present.

And it suggests that I am still editing my video to this moment.

Let's look at one more exmple.

I am going to use my favorite ,show right now to explain this one.

So the first sentence exmple would be,

"I have watched outer bank,"

The second exmple was "I have been watching outer banks,"

you would use the first sentence, the'present perfect tense.'if you are done watching this show.

You 've watched the whole series,you 've watched every episode ,and you 're no longer watching it.

Or you 've watched the first episode ,and you decided it's not for you and you just don't watch it.

You 're not continuing to watch it.

Either way,the first sentence exmple suggests that you 're currently not watching the show outer banks.

If you 're someone who is not done with the show ,and you 're still watching,

Then you would use, the second exmple to suggest that you 're currently still watching the show.

To wrap it up,the main point is that.

The 'present perfect tense'is used when the main action is already finished.

The 'present perfect continuouse tense' is used when the main action is still ongoing.
